Horse Riding in Corfu
Corfu’s blend of beaches, lush hills and quiet countryside makes it a wonderful place to ride. Picturesque trails wind through olive groves, vineyards and traditional villages, with something for every level — gentle beach rides and lessons for beginners and children, longer hacks through the hills for experienced riders. The island’s well-established equestrian centres provide experienced guides and well-trained horses, so whether you want to amble along the coast at sunset or explore the mountainous interior, you’ll find a ride to suit.

What to expect
Most centres welcome all abilities, from first-timers and children to seasoned riders. Wear long trousers and closed shoes, bring a hat, sunscreen and water, and book ahead in summer. Rides are usually offered early morning or late afternoon to avoid the midday heat — and a sunset ride along the beach is hard to beat.
Rides for every level
Whether it’s your first time in the saddle or you’ve ridden for years, there’s a ride for you. Beginners and children are well looked after with gentle walks and short lessons in a safe, enclosed setting, while confident riders can join longer trail rides and faster hacks across open country. Many centres offer the magic of a beach ride — walking or trotting along the shoreline with the sea at your horse’s feet — alongside scenic hill trails with sweeping views over the coast and the Ionian Sea. It’s a wonderful way to see a side of Corfu you’d never reach by car.
Best time of year to ride
Corfu stays green and mild from spring through autumn, making it ideal for riding most of the year. Spring (April to June) brings wildflowers and comfortable temperatures; in high summer it’s best to ride in the early morning or cooler evening, when a sunset beach ride is at its most beautiful. Autumn is quieter and still warm — a lovely time for an unhurried hack through the olive groves.
Getting there & where to stay
The stables are spread across the island, so a car helps (see Do you need a car in Corfu?). The northeastern centres are an easy drive from our Kalami suites and villas Marnie and Blanche, while the southwest beach rides at Halikounas are close to La Châtaigne.
